Shoulder Impingement Syndrome (SIS) is a disorder that results in pain, inflammation, and restricted movement due to compression of the shoulder's tendons or bursa. Conservative treatment approaches, such as physical therapy, which aims to increase shoulder muscle strength and flexibility, are usually used first. Ibuprofen is one example of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID) that helps control inflammation and pain. If conservative measures fail, severe inflammation may be reduced with corticosteroid injections.
