• Best Museums in Delhi for Fun Outings

Exploring the museums in Delhi is much more than a history lesson. It’s an outing full of surprises and discoveries. Whether you’re with friends, family or on a solo day trip, the city has museums that entertain, inspire and educate.

Start with the National Rail Museum where toy train rides and vintage locomotives bring out the inner kid in everyone. Then head to the National Science Centre for engaging science exhibits that make learning fun. For something truly unique, visit the Sulabh International Museum of Toilets. yes, it’s about toilets, but presented in a way that’s both quirky and memorable. And if you love art and craft, the National Crafts Museum offers a peaceful escape into Indian heritage, complete with live artisan demonstrations.

No matter which museum you pick, dress comfortably, carry a water bottle and plan a relaxed schedule. This isn’t about rushing through; it’s about making memories while exploring the best museums in delhi.

  • What are the Top 5 Tourist Destinations in Dehradun for a Family Day Outing?

If you are in Dehradun and looking for a family trip for a short escape, then you must explore some of these places around the city, which are absolute gems. For a peaceful picnic, a splash of adventure, or a cosy nature retreat, here are my top five favourite spots near Dehradun for a refreshing family day outing.

    1. Robber’s Cave (Gucchupani)
One of my go-to places when I want to beat the summer heat! Walking barefoot in the cold water flowing through the narrow cave is such a fun experience, and kids also love it. It’s a great place to enjoy some quick snacks, take pictures, and just chill surrounded by nature.
Distance: Around 8 km from Dehradun city centre

    2. Sahastradhara (Thousand Fold Spring)
I love the peaceful vibe here with the sound of waterfalls, sulphur springs, and that little ropeway ride to the top makes it a great family destination. The water has medicinal properties too, and there are small eateries where you can grab a bite.
Distance: Around 14 km from Dehradun

    3. Malsi Deer Park (Dehradun Zoo)
This one is a must-visit to travel with kids, where you can enjoy the clean, green surroundings and the chance to see deer, birds, and even leopards. Here you will find a small café and play area, which looks perfect for a relaxed picnic afternoon.
Distance: Around 10 km from Dehradun on Mussoorie Road

    4. Lachhiwala Nature Park (Asan Conservation Reserve)
Whenever I feel like spending quiet time with family surrounded by greenery, Lachhiwala never disappoints. There are man-made pools, shaded picnic spots, and boating options. The best part? It is easy to reach and not too crowded if you go early. It is the best place to spend 3-4 hours for a day trip.
Distance: Around 20 km from Dehradun

    5. Mussoorie (Queen of Hills)
This one is not exactly “nearby,” but it is totally worth the drive. You will love to take your family for a quick day trip to Mussoorie, strolling on Mall Road, sipping hot chocolate, and catching the view from Gun Hill. If you start early, you can easily make it a day’s outing. You can hire a tempo traveller on rent in Dehradun for a full-day tour to Mussoorie. The rental fare will include fuel cost, driver charges, sightseeing cost, toll taxes and state tax on the traveller van.
Distance: About 35 km from Dehradun
